Interview by Bryan Baker on 9/16/2010

What is the meaning of "Butterfly Tea"?
Butterfly Tea came to me rather easily... first because of a Chinese movie "Butterfly Lovers," Which remains the most beautiful movie I've seen and secondly because I drink tea all the time...

What music inspires you?
The musics which inspire me most are Japanese, the Japanese composers are geniuses! Masamichi Amano, Kenji Kawai, Joe Hisaishi, Shiro Sagisu... I like Symphonic Rock music coming from Northern Europe (Withim Temptation, Delain...Epica... ). In a general way I'm inspired by all kinds of things everywhere around me, by looking at all which is made all around the world, and to group together all this...

Why do you like composing soundtracks?
I compose personal albums also, but what pleases me about composing "soundtracks" is that it doesn't lock me into a precise music style -- I don't have to compose an electro soundtrack or a symphonic medieval soundtrack... Making only one or two music styles is really depressing... But mixing many styles or creating something entirely new is fascinating!

Tell us about your recording studio?
At the moment I haven't a studio... it should come soon. A computer, a keyboard, and good music software... When I see that certain composers boast to have a great studio and any sorts of material it saddens me... The material serves nothing, what account is the talent... On the other hand I'd like my music to be played by an orchestra -- that should be cool...

Tell us more about yourself.
My course is nothing extraordinary, and on another side I always been a little has part... I started to compose music on an Amiga computer when I was 14 years old. I then made music for fanzines, games, demos on Amiga, internet and PC... It recently took another scale when I began making music for movies and also shows or festivals. Now my music is making its way all over world... I think that I still have a lot to make. I plan to compose techno again, but also create a Symphonic Rock music group. I want to make a movie and do more writing... It is necessary to live life's passions and dare to dream!

"Solo Piano". The term has come to describe a genre of music which has become extremely popular over the past 20 years. It mingles elements of pop, jazz and classical music to form a style also been termed "new age". Artists such as Yanni, George Winston and Jim Brickman have helped define the genre and spread its popularity. Strong melodies, a...
